2. Who we are
Sopherlo provides online lessons for secondary school students. When this policy says "we" or "us", it means Sopherlo. For anything about privacy, write to privacy@sopherlo.com.
3. What we collect
From parents and guardians
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your answers to our surveys, if you choose to fill them in.
About students
- First name, class and the subjects they study.
- Their answers, progress and time spent in lessons.
Automatically
- Basic device and usage information, such as device type and when lessons were used, to keep the service working.
4. How we use it
- To choose the right lessons for your child and track what they've mastered.
- To show parents and, where agreed, lesson teachers or schools their progress.
- To contact you about your account and the beta.
- To improve Sopherlo, using information that no longer identifies anyone wherever we can.
5. Children and parental consent
Sopherlo is used by students under 18. We only create a student account with the consent of a parent or guardian, and parents can see what we hold about their child. We do not use photos of students without written parental consent.
6. Who we share it with
We share information only with services that help us run Sopherlo, such as hosting and email, under agreements that protect it. We share a student's progress with a lesson teacher or school only when a parent has agreed. We may share information if the law requires it.
7. How we keep it safe
We use encryption in transit, access controls and regular reviews of who can see what. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects your family.
8. How long we keep it
We keep information while your family uses Sopherlo. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
9. Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold, correct it, delete it, or withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@sopherlo.com and we will respond as the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 requires.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
